I am Baha. I work on data systems: how they're designed, how they behave, and how to make them easier to understand.

I like working through technical ideas from first principles. Writing is part of that process. It forces me to slow down, question what I think I know, and find a simpler explanation.

This site is where I publish interactive essays about data systems and the ideas around them. The essays combine writing with small, interactive figures. You can change an input, test an assumption, and see what follows.

Interactive experimentation is the core method here. Most ideas in data systems have a shape you can only feel by changing something and watching what happens: drag a slider past the point where an index stops helping, widen a bucket until a blank chart fills in. Reading about a system tells you what it does; experimenting on it tells you why.

The goal is to make difficult ideas easier to reason about.
